On the Road Again

Where has your Body Bark been this summer? Catherine and I recently returned from a trip to Santa Monica where we encountered Spider Man in ours. Currently, I’m on a trip in New Mexico where, yesterday, I visited the Aztec Ruins in mine. Of course, we ‘Body Bark’ Everyday EveryWear, but it’s interesting to recount the places our Body Bark has traveled and to hear about where yours has been! Upload a picture and/or leave a comment—we’re sure it’s something worth barking about!

Our ESPY Experience

We intended to photographically capture our ESPY adventure and provide up-to-the minute shots on our Facebook page, but the day got away from us. We arrived in Los Angeles without a moment to spare—went straight to hair and make-up, grabbed a quick bite, donned our cocktail dresses, and headed to will call for our tickets.  To our surprise, we were gifted passes to walk the red carpet (!!!) and to attend the after party at Palladium in Hollywood. Thank you MRB Productions/Espy Gift Bag team! What a day and night.  (Oh, and we even stopped by Chateau Marmont.)  Here are a few photos to enjoy; see if you recognize any of the celebrities we encountered…(p.s., wish you’d been there with us!)

Trivia Anyone: What’s in a Name?

Interested in a little piece of trivia?  When I tell others that I work with the company “Body Bark,” I’m often asked about the name.  And, thus, am given the opportunity to share the history and benefits of the product.  But, why brand a women’s clothing line “Body Bark?” Here’s the answer:

Given that the apparel line is derived from the cellulose fiber of sustainable beech wood trees, it was appropriate to incorporate that natural aspect of the fabric
into the brand name. A family brainstorming night inspired owner/designer Catherine Poirier to come up with the “Body Bark” name as well as visions of a ‘tree lady’ logo.  Body Bark speaks to the eco-heritage and protective properties of the line, while the logo exudes the grace, sophistication, and sensuality of the fabric.

Now you know!  And that’s something worth barking about!

Think Outside the Bark this Father’s Day

If only we had Body Bark for the men in our lives (it’s certainly on our wish & to-do lists!).  This Sunday we’ll have to think ‘outside of the bark’ to tell our Dads how much we love them.  Since I was a little girl I began writing my dad ‘love’ letters for special occasions; and, as I grew older, my dad confirmed for me that, on Father’s Day, this is what he most enjoys (versus the typical tie, button-down, BBQ set, etc.).  So, today, I’m making this post short and sweet; I have a pen and paper eagerly awaiting my attention and an envelope with my dad’s name on it.  How will you say ‘Happy Father’s Day’ to the men in your life?

Don’t Let ‘Em Send You Packing Without Us!

It’s that time of year when many of us are heading to warm destinations for summer break weekends.  We want to avoid checked baggage, pack light, and choose clothing that can do double duty.  Body Bark is no longer just for fall or winter climates.  In fact, it’s our solution for any warm weather destination.  We have some ultra soft and super thin suggestions for your packing predicaments.

FRIDAY: You’d like to bring a form-fitting dress (or two) for an evening out on your resort vacation. At home, these little numbers require shape-wear to hide panty lines.  But, you’ll be going someplace HOT and shape-wear is a heavy, sweat inducing layer that should be left behind.  Solution: opt for the Body Bark body short.  The short is a thin layer, guards against panty lines, and conceals jiggle.  We think the boy short is a perfect alternative!

SATURDAY: From hotel room to spa appointment, what are you going to wear?  Forget the room’s complimentary terry cloth robe; it’s too rough & weighs a ton!  Adorn a Body Bark robe instead.  It takes up little space in your carry-on, is so soft that your skin will be convinced that spa-like pampering began the moment you put it on, & it looks more feminine!  What else?  You can go straight to the pool when your treatments are done.  (It doubles as a cover-up!)

ALL WEEKEND LONG: Your Body Bark slip deserves a space in your luggage because it’s a triple threat.  Not only does it serve as a traditional slip when layered, but the black slip looks great alone as a dress when paired with a bright colored wrap and strappy sandals/heels.  Finally, turn into bed using your slip in place of a nightie…not only does it feel like butter against your skin, but it’s sensual and sexy at the same time.

FRIDAY/SUNDAY: Flying there and flying home—of course you always want to be comfy while traveling, but, on the return flight, you may also need some protection against the symptoms of sunburn (who wants to wear jeans on their rosy thighs?).  Catherine and I frequently travel in our Body Bark pants.  Pair them with a layered tank and scoop of your choice and your ready for take-off (and landing.)

Happy travels this summer—and don’t forget your Body Bark!

Join Body Bark at the ESPYs!

2010 gift bag, courtesy: ESPN.com

It is an honor to announce that Body Bark has been invited to be a participant in the 2011 ESPY Awards show this July.  Body Bark apparel, Body Bark gift certificates, and an athletic hat (designed just for the event!) will be among the gifts presented to 150 celebrities, nominees, winners, and presenters of the show.  We are ecstatic! (See last year’s gift bag.)

The 2011 ESPYs  will be the 19th annual.  It’s a night in LA where athletes and ESPN memorable moments are honored.  Click here for a complete list of last year’s nominees and winners.

What’s particularly special about the ESPYs is that a portion of the show’s proceeds go to benefit the V Foundation—an organization that was begun, in part, by ESPN and the late Jim Valvano to assist researchers in finding the cure to cancers.  Read more about Jim, former NC State basketball coach and award-winning broadcaster, here.

Stay tuned for more information as July draws closer.  We’ll have lots to bark about!

Why the Everyday, EverWear Luxury Pant?

Ms. Terri Lombardi in the EveryWear Luxury Pant

It’s simple.  These pants transition easily from the bedroom to office, errands, happy hour, and even cocktail party—then, back to bed—all in one day.  Sure, you’ll probably not want to admit that you’ve worn the pants all day in public and then slipped into your sheets at bedtime…but you could!  Their sheen, drape, durability, color resilience, and softness make these pants our first choice for any activity.  If you’re a germaphobe (I confess I am), then it’s suggested that you own more than one pair.  If that’s not in your budget, no worries, your secret’s safe on this end.  No one has to know that your pants are multi-tasking between washings!  And that’s something worth barking about!
